PUPILS at a Chingford school put on nativity plays and sang festive songs to celebrate the start of the Christmas holidays.

Children aged between two and a half to 16 dressed as shepherds, angels, kings and lambs put on the story of Jesus’s birth and staff delighted an audience of parents with their choir’s renditions of Christmas jingles at Normanhurst School in Station Road.

Headmistress Claire Osborn said of the event on Wednesday, December 14: "It's a lot of work for staff and children but it's is so worth it. The children and parents even enjoy the staff choir giving their best performances and the whole school community comes together, it's the perfect start to my Christmas."
